Black Elk Cutting Horse Association was formed solely to produce Premier Cutting Horse Events in Canada.
Black Elk events will be held at the Calnash Ag Event Centre. Black Elk works closely with the Ponoka Ag Event Centre on behalf of the Ponoka Ag Society to produce one of the premier western equine events in Canada. Our goal is to become a destination western equine event for all of North America. We will accomplish this by producing the best shows and by partnering with best corporate partners and delivering value while maintaining our western heritage.
This new complex is undoubtedly the premier facility for NCHA Cutting Horse events in Canada.
The founders of Black Elk have a vision to produce quality shows by paying attention to the basic ingredients of a successful show, which we are lacking in many Canadian events.
Firstly, being arena size, many Canadian exhibitors (some unknowingly) struggle with shallow pens attempting to show their horse.
This situation is due to congested working area which does not allow the rider sufficient room to properly show their horse.
NCHA Rule 35 will be enforced at all Black Elk events, therefore there will be no additional waiting or visiting helpers in front of or adjacent to the Judges stand. All waiting help will be behind the Judges stand fence.
3 head of cattle per cutter in Added Purse Classes and 2 1/2 head of cattle in will be used for Jackpot Class at Black Elk events.
