2021 Scholarship Recipient - Larissa Price

My name is Larissa Price, I am an equestrian competitor and entrepreneur who has a passion for the equine athlete. Horses have been a major part of my life since I was a little girl riding at my grandparents’ feedlot. I knew when I grew up that my life would include horses one way or another.
Now several years later preparing for my fourth and final year of university, horses continue to be a substantial part of my life.
I started cutting eight years ago when my mom purchased a mare that had previous cutting training. At the first cutting show I immediately fell in love with the sport. Since that time cutting has taken me across Canada and the US.

As a photographer, craftsmen, and practitioner I have established “Larissa Price Photography, Braided Works and Therapeutic Services.”
My entrepreneurial spirit was ignited with the camera. It started with taking a camera to local horse shows and snapping photos.
The other aspects of my business include hand braided loping hackamores and PEMF therapy for horses, humans, and small animals. My small business is the primary reason I am furthering my education with a business degree.
The majority of business clients are cutter enthusiasts. Many of the Canadian competitors I have captured in and out of the show pen with a camera. At the next show look around the loping pen and you are sure to see one of my custom braided loping hackamores. Many fellow competitors and friends have invested in my business, for that I am thankful. My efforts are centered around completing my education and growing my business.

Currently I lease a facility in Chilliwack where I ride my horses daily. My equestrian goals are focused on discipline, balance, and resilience. Whether it is before or after class or work, I always make time every day to complete chores and ride.

With fall being right around the corner I will be heading back to class and preparing for the fall run with three-year-old and four-year-old mares. My remaining university career at the University of the Fraser Valley will conclude by April 2022. I will graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Marketing. Throughout that time, I plan to continue developing my business, launching a website, while maintaining my riding.
